The Straw Hat crew is getting a blocky makeover, and this time it’s on your screens. A brand new two-part animated special, LEGO One Piece, is set to officially launch on Netflix globally on September 29, 2026.
Like many Lego games, which allow you to play through the events of the titles they are based on (such as star wars And lord of the rings), this two-part special serves as a fun, family-friendly retelling of the unforgettable events of Seasons 1 and 2 of the live-action pirate saga.
According to the official synopsis, the story will be told from the perspective of Usopp – the famously unreliable narrator of The Straw Hats. We’ll be accompanying Usopp to the crew’s newest and cutest recruit, reindeer-boy Tony Tony Chopper, with exaggerated tales of the group’s epic adventures in the East Blue and their dangerous foray into the Grand Line.
Netflix’s relationship with LEGO first began last summer when the streamer confirmed several sets that would be available for sale later in the year. “It has been a dream to bring the Straw Hat Pirates to fans around the world in LEGO brick form,” said Yi-Chien Cheng, associate design lead on LEGO One Piece, in June last year. “I’ve always been a huge fan of the story of One Piece and it was so exciting to work with the team on creating brick-and-mortar versions of some of our favorite locations and scenes from the live-action Netflix show. I can’t wait for fans of both the LEGO Group and One Piece to get their hands on these sets and begin their own course in the Grand Line.”

Who’s behind the new special?
Netflix has assembled a solid group of studios to bring it to life. The project is a massive collaboration between the LEGO Group, Japanese publisher Shueisha and Tomorrow Studios (the production company behind the live-action One Piece).
Animation duties are being handled by Atomic Cartoons, the Vancouver-based studio best known for its work on Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends and Netflix. Hilda And last children on earth. tom hyndman Involved as showrunner, writer, and executive producer for the special.
Of course, it wouldn’t be One Piece without the involvement of its legendary creator. Eiichiro Oda is attached as an executive producer. The executive producer team concludes as follows:
- Jill Wilfert, keith maloneAnd lars danielson (for the lego group)
- Marty Edelstein And becky clements (tomorrow studios)
We’re told the voice cast is expected to differ from the live-action series.

Sidenote: We first reached out to Netflix PR about the LEGO One Piece series in April 2025, and they declined to comment at the time. They told us they would keep us informed about anything that came up, but they didn’t.
You can add the show to your Netflix queue here and don’t forget about that season 3 if the live-action series is coming.
