But eagle-eyed fans probably should have seen it coming. Last October, Sony Pictures At Home posted a promo on Instagram to promote the first season, which read:
“They chased the spotlight. Now they’re just trying to find their feet. Stream Season 1 of @everyoneisdoinggreat on @tubi and @therokuchannel. #EDG”
In the comments section, a fan who goes by the handle @calvinbryant explained what many of the fans were feeling at the time: “This show came out 4 years ago. Although it was great, I highly doubt there will be a second season.”
Surprisingly, series co-creator James Lafferty himself jumped in to answer to set the record straight:
@jameslafferty: “@CalvinBryant Season 2 is out and coming soon. Hopefully there will be a very short hiatus before Season 3 😅🙌”
Now we know exactly what “coming soon” means. Netflix has stepped up to become the new home for the series in most regions around the world, such as the United States and the UK. When the show drops on May 11, subscribers will get all eight episodes of Season 1, as well as the long-awaited Season 2. Given its huge, enduring popularity one Tree Hill (who spent years as a top performer in Netflix’s back catalogue), picking up Lafferty and Colletti’s passion project seems like a completely no-brainer for the streamer.
