It’s been more than a decade in the making, but boxing fans are desperate to see two of the best British heavyweight boxers in recent history, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, in the ring. There has been no official announcement yet, but we expect confirmation of Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua soon. Will the fight be streamed on Netflix? Let’s find out.
Former world champions Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, despite being two of the best British heavyweight boxers for more than a decade, have never faced each other in the ring. Despite the pair never throwing a punch, their long-standing rivalry has been limited to banter. That looks to be changing soon as the pair have sparked speculation that the fight will be booked soon.
We must submit that at the time of writing, there is nothing official that Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will fight live on Netflix. Following Tyson Fury’s fight with Arslanbek Makhmudov, Netflix UK claimed in a post on X that it would air live on Netflix. However, this was duly noted by the community as Anthony Joshua has confirmed that no contract has been signed.
This is happening.

What has been said so far?
The wheels are firmly in motion Joshua was provoked after the fury After his win against Arslanbek Makhmudov.
“Thank you all for coming tonight. I really appreciate all of you guys. It’s been 16 months and we’ve sacked Tottenham again. But like I said, let me get Arslanbek Makhmudov out of the way and we’ll talk further. After that I want to give you the fight you’ve all been waiting for. I want you, AJ. Anthony Joshua.
Let’s give the fight fans what they want. Here’s my challenge. I challenge you, Anthony Joshua, to fight me, Tyson Fury, the Gypsy King, next! Do you accept my challenge? Let him say yes or no right now. Come home you big fucker, are you going to fight or not?” – Tyson Fury

While Joshua never confirmed to Fury that he accepts his challenge, his response certainly suggests that the fight will happen in the near future.
“Tyson you are one hell of a chaser. I’ve never had any trouble getting in the ring with you. I punched you when we were kids. And after seeing you here tonight, I’ll punch you again. With all due respect, tonight is your night and you know I’ll be sitting in the ring across from you at the appropriate time. You’re not going to tell me what to do. I’ve been stalking you for the last 10 years. When you’re ready, you Come and see me and I’ll call you when I’m ready, you work for me.

A follow up response It has also been suggested in the ring by Joshua that the fight will take place soon.
“In my heart, I’ll fight Tyson Fury tomorrow. Especially after seeing him. I have no problem fighting. That’s what I do. I’m not going to sit here and say, ‘Yeah, I’ll fight him!’ I’m not here to dominate, I’m here to fight. Contracts will be sent out, we’ll go over the specifics and more than likely, you’ll probably see us in the ring next time.
I’m not here to get in the ring and start yelling in anybody’s face, if you look at my track record, I’ve never done that. I’m not here to dominate, I wanted to see the fight, I saw what I saw and I know what to do when I get him in the ring.
Look, he is the one who has retired, I am in the game, I have never retired, I have stood strong for the last 13 years, it is on him. He disappears, comes back, disappears, comes back. I stand strong. I’m not here to chase fame or chase publicity, I’m a real person and I’ll fight anyone in front of me, whether it’s him or the next guy. It doesn’t matter to me. I fight big. It’s just my style. I fight big. He works for me.” -Anthony Joshua

Does Anthony Joshua need a warm-up fight before facing Fury?
Following his victory over Jake Paul, live on Netflix, Anthony Joshua was at the center of a tragic traffic collision that resulted in injury and, most tragically, Death of his two close friendsSina Ghaemi and Lateef Ayodele, who were also his rehabilitation coach and personal trainer respectively. Joshua has yet to return to the ring since the tragic incident and has suggested a warm-up fight could take place before facing off against Fury.
“Good question. After what I saw tonight it could be a practice fight! We’ll see. I was in a serious incident probably four months ago, so I need to check what’s going on with my return to the ring.
I’m here, keeping my eye on the game. Real things are happening in my life, I’m not cheating anyone. I know what my job is. There are real things I need to pay attention to too. Once I’m 100 percent I’ll be ready. This is what I do. I run the game. Everyone knows I run games. That’s what I do, I’m a serious warrior and very strong. When I strike Fury, I will hurt him badly. -Anthony Joshua
When will the fight be confirmed and will it be streamed on Netflix?
No contracts have been signed, as confirmed by Anthony Joshua.
“I’ve been here a million times. Once my name and signature are on the dotted line, it’s a fight. Nothing’s on the dotted line right now. Neither is hers. If I’m being honest with you, there’s no fight right now.
There will be no fight until that first bell rings. I’ve been here three or four times [Deontay] Wilder and Fury. It’s boring for me. It’s exciting for the people at home. As for me, I have been here many times. it is no problem.” -Anthony Joshua
While Fury issued the challenge, Joshua left the ball firmly in Fury’s court regarding the future of the fight. The money involved in this type of fight is going to be huge, so it will take time to write and sign contracts.

Despite both Fury and Joshua recently competing on Netflix, there is no guarantee that the fight will be streamed live on the streaming service. All live events on Netflix are free with a subscription, and we don’t expect that to change any time soon.
A fight of this magnitude, despite no titles being at stake, has the potential to generate massive pay-per-view numbers. What works in Netflix’s favor is its global reach among its millions of subscribers. Still, a fight of this size would require Netflix to spend millions of dollars to secure exclusive streaming rights.
Given Netflix’s investment in live boxing and with both fighters competing on the platform recently, it is our expectation that the fight will be streamed on Netflix.
We hope to have more news soon.
