Mystery Inc. Officially headed to Netflix. In a big move for the streamer, Netflix confirmed it has greenlit a brand new live-action adaptation due in March 2025. Scooby Doo!. “This is the origin story of how the Mystery Inc. group came together to first solve the haunting case that started it all. During their final summer at Camp Ruby-Spears, old friends Shaggy and Daphne become entangled in a sinister mystery surrounding an lonely lost Great Dane puppy who may have witnessed a supernatural murder.
Along with practical and scientific townswoman, Velma, and strange, but extremely handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is drawing each of them into a scary nightmare that threatens to expose all their secrets.
We also know that the script for episode 1 is simply titled: “Scooby Doo.”
While early live-action adaptations (like the 2002 film written by James Gunn) leaned into campy comedy, sources indicate that this Netflix iteration is aiming for a different vibe.
We’re told the goal of the series is stranger things Tone. It’s meant to be a mix of genuine scares, suspense, and a “bright and bold aesthetic” that balances cartoon roots with plenty of pop culture references while remaining grounded and broad in appeal.

After the March 2025 greenlight, things went quiet until late summer 2025.
There was confusion for a while about the August 2025 deadline. one in Diversity In an interview with Channing Dungey of Warner Bros. TV Group, a quote originally suggested that the series would be “coming a little later this autumn.” That line was quickly removed from the article, suggesting that it was either a misquote or an overly optimistic omission regarding the release or production window.

Given that production is occupying the middle block of 2026, we’re unlikely to see the series drop on Netflix, at least 2027.
