Sony pictures are releasing
The dust is settling on Netflix’s upcoming reimagining of the beloved 2004 rom-com 13 going on 30, Which was first confirmed last month. Thanks to recent production listings, casting calls, and tax credit allocations, we have some new details, including when and where filming will take place, as well as potential character names and traits.
Story details are still mostly under wraps at this point, but what we do know is that Netflix is describing it as a “reimagining” rather than a straight 1:1 remake of the original.
As previously confirmed, the new film will star Emily Bader (my lady jane) And Logan Lerman (Hunter, the perks of Being a Wallflower) as the two 30-year-olds lead.

According to our sources, the main character was initially named Jenna, but with a modern family: in this version, we’re told she has two fathers.
Now, Netflix is actively casting two 13-year-olds for supporting roles, suggesting that we now know the updated names of two characters (these may change frequently or may be codenames), given that they’re looking for younger versions of our leads, and you can probably guess how old they need to be! They also provide some insight about the new characters:
Grace Fisher (13)
“Bright and ambitious, Grace struggles with being left out of the popular crowd and is quietly desperate to find her way. She masks her insecurities with charm and effort, constantly conforming herself to what she thinks people want. A talented dancer and a confident presence on camera, but in her personal life, she’s far more concerned…”
Ollie Brown (13)
“Observational and introspective, Ollie prefers to engage with the world from behind the camera rather than participating in the social dynamics of his peers. A music lover with strong opinions, he doesn’t really care what others think. Intelligent and perceptive, he shows little interest in conforming or seeking approval…”
The casting call specifically noted that whoever would play young Grace and Ollie would have to physically match their adult counterparts from Bader and Lerman.
