After a great first half of the year for new anime, the second half is already off to a great start. In July the highly anticipated Demons of the Shadow Realm and Sparks of Tomorrow will be coming to Netflix, and we’ll also see the conclusion of the first phase of the One Piece: Elbaf arc. We also expect some licensed anime to be announced soon.

The series is an anime adaptation of Hiro Yuki’s light novel 20 Seki Denki Mokuroku, directed by Minoru Ota and produced by Kyoto Animation.
“In an alternate version of the early 20th century, where technological progress evolved on a different path shaped by steam power, Kyoto is constantly shrouded in smoke. A boy, hardened by the loss of his brother, becomes distrustful after their shared dream of the “Age of Electricity” is cut short. A deeply devout girl hides her dreams and regrets her dead mother. When the two cross paths, they find themselves in the 20th century. As they discover the secrets of the electrical catalog of the century, they must together confront their past and make a path towards the future they once believed in, in order to get a glimpse of the future they long for.

Demons of the Shadow Realm (Season 1)

The anime is an adaptation of the manga Yomi no Tsugai by Full Metal Alchemist creator Hiromu Arakawa. The manga debuted in 2021, so fans have been waiting for over 5 years for the anime adaptation. While the series is already available to stream on Crunchyroll, it will be released in multiple dubs on Netflix worldwide.
Yuru and Asa, twins from a different village, were separated by night and day. The elder brother Yuru is an animal hunter, while his younger sister Asa has been locked up and ordered to perform a special duty. But when all the adults are killed in an attack on their village to capture Yuru, Yuru and Asa attempt to escape, but in the chaos, Yuru encounters a woman who claims to be her true twin sister. Yura is rescued by village outsider Ryu “Dera” Tadera, and before the pair are captured, Dera gives Yura a gift to the village deity, resulting in a pair of demons being summoned into the world, whose survival will reveal the truth behind the attack on the village.

There are plenty of Akane-Banashi episodes to look forward to on Netflix, as the series has been confirmed to have two cours, totaling 12 episodes. The first course won’t be out until August, and the second course will be released later this year.
“Growing up, Akane admired her father and his rakugo, a traditional Japanese form of storytelling where a single performer, called rakugoka, enacts a long, complex and usually funny story involving multiple characters, distinguished by changes in pitch, intonation, slight turns of the head and hand movements, all while sitting in place. But when she was in elementary school, her father and all the other applicants from the Arakawa school during the promotion exams Was expelled. The third and highest rank of Rakugo. Six years later, Akane, who had been secretly receiving teachings from her father, set out to become Shinuchi of the Arakawa school in order to avenge her father and prove Rakugo was a legitimate profession.

One Piece remains one of the most popular anime IPs on Netflix, and July will mark the end of the first course of the Elbaf arc. With a maximum of 26 episodes released per year, a second course will be released later in 2026.
After escaping an attack by the Marines and Gorossi on Egghead Island, the Straw Hats are rescued by larger-than-life giant pirates! Now they head to Elbaf Island, home of the giants, where new friends and dangers emerge as Luffy continues his goal of finding One Piece.
