Just when you thought the Big Blue Bug of Justice couldn’t get any more screen time this summer, we have a big update. Following the news that Patrick Warburton’s 2001 cult classic tick Netflix is making a splash in select regions, now we’ve learned the 2016 Prime Video reboot is making the jump too!

Created by Ben Edlund, tick It has been a Prime Video Original since its initial pilot premiere in 2016, with an additional half-season removed a year later, and an additional six episodes that round out the season in 2018. It was given a full 10-episode renewal, although this would be the end, considering Canceled immediately in 2019.

Despite being a Prime Video original, like the 2001 Fox series, the 2016 reboot is actually distributed by Sony Pictures Television. The exclusivity rights have likely surfaced, allowing Sony Pictures Television to monetize the show elsewhere, with Netflix swooping in and securing the rights to this fantastic modern take on the character.

A 2016 reboot, starring Peter Serafinowicz in the lead role (leave out, guardians of the galaxy) with Griffin Newman as Arthur in the titular blue suit, ran for two critically acclaimed seasons. When it arrives on Netflix, fans will be able to watch all 22 episodes of the superhero satire.

Unlike the 2001 series, which joins Netflix on July 8, the reboot will join Netflix in select regions about a week later on July 15.

where is the 2016 reboot tick Streaming on Netflix?

Like the 2001 series, streaming rights are entirely dependent on region. Here’s where the Peter Serafinowicz reboot is headed:

  • Latin America: countries including brazil, argentinaAnd others across the region will receive the reboot.
  • Europe: Both united kingdom And Germany Confirmed to have received a reboot. However, if you’re in France, the Netherlands or Italy, we don’t have confirmation yet as the series is not currently appearing for those regions – this could be due to prior, existing licensing agreements, or we may just have to wait a little longer for the title to populate on their respective Netflix hubs. However, all of them are getting the 2001 series.
  • Australia: Aussies are getting the ultimate double treat, as Netflix Australia has been confirmed to be getting both the 2001 Patrick Warburton series and the 2016 reboot.

It’s unclear when Netflix will stream the series. Recently most licenses have been between 6 months to 2 years.

What about the United States and Canada?

Unfortunately, we have some bad news for North American customers. The United States and Canada are the two largest notable countries currently absent from both licensing deals. As of now, neither the original 2001 series nor the 2016 reboot are expected to come to Netflix in the US or Canada. For now, domestic fans will have to stick to Prime Video to watch the 2016 recap, while hopefully Netflix manages to secure the US/Canadian rights to both shows in the future.
