Netflix continues to invest heavily in Dutch productions. While more serious titles like d eatclub (outright lie) And de stilte (silence) are currently in active development, with comedy also remaining a major focus. Netflix has now officially confirmed that Roosters (Hantjes) will return for a third and final season, with production already underway.
The comedy series quickly became one of Netflix’s biggest Dutch hits. Its first season topped the Dutch Netflix Top 10, while the second season is also performing strongly and attracting a large number of viewers. So, a third season is not a surprise.
In the final season, we once again follow friends Mike, Danny, Ivo and Greg as they try to find their place in a world that never stops changing. Netflix shared the following summary: “In the Hantzes’ third season, Mike, Danny, Ivo and Greg feel as if the roles have reversed. While the men are looking for love and connection, the women start behaving like chickens.”
Who is returning for season 3?
For the show’s farewell season, most of the familiar faces will return. Returning cast members include Jeroen Spitzenberger (De Vuurlini), Waldemar Torenstra (wrack), Andre Dongelmans (kill mode), Benza Bruising (dirty lines), Jennifer Hoffman (de luijnmoeder), Jelka van Houten (tropenzaren), Eva Lorensen (slavery) and Fockeline Auwerkerk (mocro mafia).
Many new faces are also joining:

The series is directed by Anna van Kiempema (happy single), Philip Besmuska and Elgelian Peters (Dirtigers). The screenplay is written by Luc Van Bemmelen and Martijn Hillenius, while production is handled by Hollands Licht, the company behind the projects. ted lasso And dunkirk. Anna van der Heide (dirty lines) returns as creative producer.
Cameras rolling all over the Netherlands
Filming is now in full swing. What’s On on Netflix revealed that production is expected to continue until at least mid-July. Scenes are being filmed in several locations across the Netherlands, including Amsterdam, Bilthoven, Blaricum and Bunschoten.
The casting notice also reveals some interesting details. The production recently searched for additional cast members to appear in scenes set at the gender reveal party and café. The new season is also said to feature a mysterious “gathering of men”, though what exactly happens there remains a secret. Interestingly, the team was also looking for a child to feature in an episode.
With filming progressing smoothly, the third and final season is highly likely to be released in 2027. Given how far along production has already gone, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Netflix launch new episodes relatively early in the year.
