enola holmes 3

Director: philippe barantini
Mould: Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill, Louis Partridge
Style: Action, Mystery, Thriller Runtime: 122 minutes
Coming to Netflix: 1 July

Millie Bobby Brown’s incredibly popular teen-sleuth franchise returns for the third time, with Philip Barentini taking the helm of this darker, more mature mystery.

When her famous brother Sherlock (Henry Cavill) is unexpectedly kidnapped, Enola becomes embroiled in an intriguing and treacherous new case in Malta. A high-risk international rescue mission puts her espionage skills to the ultimate test and dangerously complicates her impending marriage to Lord Tewkesbury.

In our full review published upon its release, we wrote:

“Watchable with a baseline of established characters and personalities, but Enola Holmes lacks some of the magical and cinematic flair of the Harry Bradbeer era. Underuse of Sherlock and Eudoria and more romantic distractions take the mystery and sizzle down a notch from the previous films. Certainly the least rewatchable entry in the franchise.”

Thanks to a shared licensing agreement with Paramount, Netflix users will finally be able to stream that fateful day when the world went silent.

Moving away from the Abbott family, first day Drops us straight into the chaotic streets of New York City during the initial alien invasion. Continuing with the theme of the new Universal movies coming to Netflix, we move on to Hamnett (And we’ve even got another clever throughline for the next pick!) Set against the backdrop of the bubonic plague in 1580s England, this emotional historical drama from Academy Award-winning director Chloé Zhao is a stunningly beautiful must-see.

The film has been a consistent awards contender throughout the campaign leading up to the recent Oscars and has been loved by audiences and critics alike. Set in a Yorkshire town in 1916, the story follows an impoverished community choir that has lost most of its men in the trenches of the First World War. Faced with decadence, accompanied by an uncompromising new choir (the phenomenal Ralph Fiennes), it is a deeply moving testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of art to heal during dark times.
