Sports documentaries have been a staple for Netflix, but one of its high-octane editions is officially hitting the brakes on the service. Both seasons of NASCAR documentary full speed It’s scheduled to drop to Netflix globally in May 2026, which shouldn’t be a huge surprise given the surprising surge in the documentary format earlier this year.
First added to Netflix USA on January 30, 2024, full speed what NASCAR tried to do Formula 1: Drive to Survive Did it for F1. The behind-the-scenes series follows drivers and their teams as they fuel their passion and pursue NASCAR Cup glory, providing fans an unprecedented look into the high-stakes world of stock car racing.
While the show was a hit among racing fans, the franchise has recently shifted gears.
As many fans may already know, the series immediately arrived on Amazon Prime Video this is the third outing. The latest edition of the show, Full Speed: The Daytona 500, premiered exclusively on Prime Video on March 5, 2026. Now, because the streaming partnership with NASCAR Studios has officially transferred to Amazon, Netflix’s licensing rights for the first two seasons are expiring.
A removal notice is now visible full speed page, indicating that your last day to watch on Netflix is May 6, with the title officially departing the library on May 7, 2026. This wouldn’t be a huge surprise, as we had information that the series would be departing earlier this year, but as with all things licensing-related, things could change.
Interestingly, this removal date is exactly a year after season 2 was added to Netflix (May 7, 2025).
This comes as Netflix has pulled back on sports-adjacent programming, whether by cutting the number of episodes (see). full swing) or quietly spending time on titles such as coverage of rugby or tennis. Formula 1: Drive to Survive Still a relatively good performance for the streamer, although its viewership is down from its peak a few years ago. However, Netflix is pushing for more live sports programming, including an upcoming documentary on football (soccer) legend Ronaldinho.
Looking at the engagement report data for Full Speed, it’s no rocket science why they had no objection to the series being removed from Netflix. Season 1 of the show was viewed 3.8 million times throughout 2024, while Season 2 was viewed only 1.1 million times throughout the year.
If you’re planning a last-minute binge-watch before it’s gone, you have 10 episodes to watch in Seasons 1 and 2. Once it leaves Netflix, you will have to activate Prime Video, where the first two seasons are already present with a one-and-a-half-hour featurette serving as Season 3.
