If you’re wondering when Collection 14 (known as Series 17 in the UK) will hit our screens, you’re not alone. Luckily, we have some good news to share about the release, as well as some big, bittersweet changes coming to the upcoming batch of episodes.
If you don’t know, since 2018, Netflix has become the de facto streaming home of the hit British series (known there as The Great British Bake-Off), but only in the United States. The news comes after the streamer aired the PBS version of the show for several years. There are also several spin-offs available on Netflix US, including a Christmas special, a junior series, and The Professionals, although they are not being updated like the flagship series.
When is Collection 14 coming out on Netflix?
Let’s start with the most important ingredient: What’s on Netflix? It has been officially confirmed that the new season will indeed return to Netflix US! Like in past years, fans across the pond won’t have to put up with spoilers for long, as the streaming giant will continue its tradition of a weekly release schedule.
Although Netflix has not yet announced the exact premiere date, we can easily guess based on the previous seasons. Historically, the show debuts on the UK’s Channel 4 in late August or early September, with Netflix releasing episodes a few days later on Fridays. With UK broadcasting expected to begin around the first week of September 2026, it is highly likely that Collection 14 will premiere on Netflix US Friday, September 4Or soon after.

We will update this post once we get official confirmation.
Saying goodbye to a baking legend
When Collection 14 finally arrives, there will be a noticeable absence on the gingham altar. earlier this yearPrue Leith announces her decision to step down as a judge after nine seasons and “over 400 challenges”. The South African and British restaurateur, who replaced Mary Berry in 2017, is leaving some big, brightly colored statement necklaces to fill.
“I have loved truely [The Great British Baking Show]And I’m sure I’ll miss working with my fellow judges, Paul, Alison and Noel, and the teams at Love Productions and Channel 4,” Prue announced on her Instagram in January.
So, why the departure? “For God’s sake I’m 86 years old!” She quipped that she planned to “spend the summer enjoying her garden.” Prue also recently revealed on a podcast that she was feeling a little uneasy Her pins became unstable during outdoor shootingExpressing fear of a humiliating fall into the “sloppy, uneven” fields surrounding the tent.
Channel 4’s chief content officer Ian Katz praised her “delightful presence”, noting that she combined “absolute culinary authority with great generosity and empathy for the bakers”. While Paul Hollywood has an important handshake to give his late colleague, the network has yet to announce who will step in as the new judge to join Paul, Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding.
A Brand New Twist: Viewers’ Choice Week
To make up for Prue’s departure, Collection 14 is bringing a major milestone for the first time in the franchise. Before she left, Prue and Paul Hollywood confirmed New format change for 2026: “Audience Selection Week.” For the first time in the show’s history, viewers were given control over what the bakers presented by submitting their ideas online to choose the Signature, Technical and Showstopper challenges for a specific week.
Between the new judge’s secrets, fan-curated bakes, and confirmed weekly Netflix drops, Collection 14 is shaping up to be a true showstopper.
