As the conversation turned to whether Lopez had been approached by a new actress, Lopez talked about the conversation landmanPaulina Chavez when she was in London for press recently.
“There was this actress who just did landmanWhich is fantastic. She came up to me and she said, ‘Let’s take a picture.’ I was like, sure. i feel like i know her landmanAnd I watched the whole thing, and I said, ‘Hi,'” Lopez recalls. “He’s just so quiet and reserved,” she says, describing how Chávez whispered, “I love you.” It melted my heart and was like, ‘Oh my God.’ Hug me.’ And she says, ‘I just want to be like you.’
Lopez then concluded by discussing the vital importance of Latino representation in Hollywood, hoping that there will be representation for young Latina artists in the same way that Moreno was for them. “It brings tears to my eyes because we need to look at ourselves,” J.Lo passionately declares. “I needed to see Rita Moreno West Side Story Otherwise I wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t be here because or I could have said, oh, ‘Maybe I can do that too’.”
