Not every love story has a happy ending. Netflix is ​​betting on that idea with a new Dutch-language drama series starring Hedevich Minis and Geert van Rampelberg. Netflix confirmed today that production has officially begun on the untitled project, which is expected to premiere worldwide in 2027.

The new drama follows Alex. When she meets handsome Christian, an instant spark ignites between them. What begins as an unexpected and passionate romance slowly turns into a relationship that becomes increasingly unhealthy.

Netflix has provided the following synopsis: “When the always practical Alex (Hedwich Minnis) meets the charming Christian (Geert van Rampelberg), they fall deeply in love. Alex throws herself completely into this new and unexpected love. But the unpredictability with which he alternately pulls her close and pushes her away becomes maddening, and in an attempt to prove his love, Alex sacrifices everything, including herself. Takes the risk of losing.”


Who stars in the new Netflix series?

Netflix has assembled an impressive cast for the upcoming drama. The series is led by Hadevich Minis and Geert van Rampelberg. Minis is best known for her role as Marina in the film Borgman, for which she won the Dutch Golden Calf Award for Best Actress in 2013. She later appeared in several notable productions, including the Netflix film Forever Rich.

Along with him, Geert van Rampelberg plays the male lead. Belgian actor best known for his performances in Young Hearts, The Alzheimer’s Case and Patsers. Netflix viewers may also recognize him from the French crime series Ganglands.

The screenplay is being written by Dorian Goertzen, Elifka Bijlsma, Joop Asmeijer and Paula van der Oost. The production is handled by NL Film and Sunny Pictures.

Ahead of production, Paula van der Oost said in a statement: “I look forward to bringing this vulnerable story to life as a series, supported by a remarkable cast. Portraying the anatomy of a toxic relationship requires precision and mutual trust from everyone involved on set. I am excited about the filming period ahead and the collaboration with Netflix.”


Elsewhere on the Dutch slate, the streamer is developing The Silence, a true-crime series about the kidnapping of De Etklubb (based on the novel by Saskia Noort), and Trus van der Valk – while continuing to support the comedies that have long fueled its Dutch programming, Roosters has already been renewed for a second season and Voetbalouders is set to return with new episodes.

Netflix has not yet announced an official title or exact release date for the new series. However, the company has confirmed that the play is expected to have its world premiere on the platform sometime in 2027.
