Keep on your radar for this week
beef (season 2)
coming to netflix: Thursday, April 16
After storming the Emmys with its wildly chaotic first season, Lee Sung Jin’s beef is finally back — and it’s officially gone the anthology route. Steven Yeun and Ali Wong have passed the torch to incredible new cast members like Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny.
This time, the battleground is an upscale country club, and the “beef” is rooted in a bitter generational and class divide. When two young employees (Melton and Spenny) witness an explosive dispute between the club’s married managers (Isaacs and Mulligan), it sparks a vicious, manipulative power struggle to win the favor of the club’s billionaire owner (played by the great Yoon Yuh-jung). If you liked the uncomfortable sarcasm and darkly funny tone of the first season, this new installment is a must-watch.
A Gorilla Story: Told by David Attenborough (2026)
coming to netflix: Friday, April 17
There’s nothing better than the soothing, authoritative voice of Sir David Attenborough guiding us through the wonders of the natural world, and Netflix is delivering once again with this brand new original documentary. It is one of his most intimate to date, given that it takes him back to the early years of his career.
A Gorilla Story focuses on one of our closest, yet weakest, living relatives in the animal kingdom. You can expect breathtaking, cutting-edge cinematography and unprecedented intimate access as the film explores the complex social structures, emotional lives and vital conservation efforts surrounding these magnificent primates. This is the quintessential, visually stunning nature documentary to binge on over the weekend.
Him (2025)
coming to netflix: Sunday, April 19
Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions has a stellar track record of delivering smart, socially conscious horror, and Snow didn’t live up to those expectations, at least according to critics and the box office, but will it get new life on Netflix?
The film, featuring Marlon Wayans alongside Tyreek Withers and Julia Fox, tells the story of a rising star quarterback who suffers a serious, potentially career-ending injury just before the draft. Desperate for a lifeline, he accepts an invitation to train at the isolated, high-tech compound of his ultimate idol, a legendary eight-time championship quarterback. But as the rigorous training intensifies, the guru’s charisma becomes even more terrifying. It’s a blood-curdling look at fame, idolatry, and the terrible sacrifices required in the pursuit of greatness.
