Blue Eye Samurai – Season 2
Netflix’s Emmy Award-winning hit Blue Eye Samurai is officially returning for a second season, and thanks to a recent Netflix Animation presentation in Annecy, we’ve got a new first look and some more early details – and a glimpse of what Mizuho is up to next.
The presentation was part of Netflix’s Anime Showcase, where it showcased some upcoming anime projects, but also some adult animated projects that fall in the middle of the spectrum of what is considered anime/adult animation. Blue Eye Samurai was, naturally, front and center along with other highly anticipated projects like Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 and Bas Ex Machina.
While the series is written and produced in America and animated in France (at Bluesburg/Blue Spirit Studios), the showcase emphasized how heavy the show leans on traditional anime visual grammar.
Here’s a rundown of everything revealed for Blue Eye Samurai Season 2, including a detailed look at an exclusive new clip!

London Bound: A new setting for season 2
If you remember the bloody and spectacular finale of Season 1, our hero, Mizuho, captured Abijah Fowler. Setting the stage for the new setting, Jermaine Turner, director of adult animation at Netflix, said, “Season 1 ended with Mizuho and her captor Fowler, the big bad, on a ship bound for London, the next stop on her quest for bloody revenge.”
The presentation confirmed that Season 2 picks up right where we left off, taking the wandering Ronin out of Japan and straight into the dirty, dirty streets of London.
What happens in the exclusive Season 2 clip?
“In this special clip for Season 2, let’s see how it goes for her,” Turner teased before giving attendees a glimpse that perfectly sets the tone for Mizzou’s European arrival.
In the footage, Fowler serves as Mizzou’s reluctant guide. He warns her about her new surroundings, noting that London is “impressive when you smell it” and is certainly “not a land for pretty customs or baths.”
Despite being Mizzou’s prisoner, Fowler remains as cocky as ever. He reminds Mizuho that she only keeps him alive for one reason: to find other white men she wants to kill. Fowler confidently tells him to “put his doubts in his pocket”, claiming that it has been a long time since he walked the streets of London, the city used to respond to him. He even joked that Mizzou “could have your father murdered by Tuesday.”
Mizuho, laser-focused as ever, makes it clear she doesn’t care about the visuals. She only cares about the men she is going to kill, stating coldly that she wants them “raw” and “scared.”
Of course, that won’t happen blue eye samurai Without any cruel action. Cut to the next part of the clip, which is an intense brawl in a fighting pit in the London underground with Mizzou facing off against two brutally sized bald guys from London. A group of locals oppose Mizu and call her “ugly” and a “monkey”. Not surprisingly, this doesn’t end well for the locals, as Mizuho quickly goes to work on the baddies, only to burst into panicked screams (“No! No! No!”) after all the stakes are stacked against her.

Connected to its “seinen” anime roots
Breaking down the creative vision for the new season, Turner emphasized that the series will maintain its mature, uncompromising edge: “Tonight, the show clearly carries the DNA of seinen anime with graphic violence, moral ambiguity and emotional complexity that never softens the world we’re experiencing.”
Naturally, it is noted that the upcoming episodes will be “heavily influenced by Zatoichi films and the works of Akira Kurosawa”. Fans can expect more top-tier action, as the presenter said that “the fight choreography speaks anime fluently, with speed cuts, dramatic stillness, explosive moments before and after, and stylized effects moments.”
Ultimately, the presentation summarized why the show works so incredibly well on a global scale: “blue eye samurai Rooted in the tradition of classic Japanese samurai cinema. However, its storytelling and action choreography have been filtered through decades of anime development, resulting in a series that feels both timeless and contemporary.
There’s no word on when this new footage will hit our screens, but expectations will be high in the coming weeks. Likewise, no peek at a release date or even a window, although, as we’ve covered before, you can expect blue eye samurai S2 will arrive on your screens in 2027.
