In May, we reported that Netflix had officially acquired the worldwide rights bad bridgetAn upcoming 19th century period drama. At the time, we revealed that Emilia Jones and Alison Oliver were set to lead the feature. Now, Netflix has officially lifted the curtain on the project, confirming our previous report and releasing a massive new cast list.
Here’s everything we know about the updated cast, crew, and latest filming schedule for Bad Bridgets.
What is the story of Bad Bridgets?
As a refresher, Bad Bridgets is inspired by the fascinating historical and literary works of Bad Bridgets by Ellen Farrell and Leanne McCormick, with the script developed with the support of Queen’s University Belfast.
Netflix has also provided a brand new official logline for the upcoming feature:
“When a mysterious letter offering escape transports a young Irish woman to 19th-century New York, she is pulled into the unruly world of Bridgets, where disaster ensues.”
Who is in the cast of Bad Bridgets?

As we covered earlier, emilia jones (CODA, LOCKE AND KEY) And Alison Oliver (Saltburn, conversation with friends) is set to lead the film. But they’re getting some serious A-list company.
Netflix has just announced that the following big names have joined the project:
- Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inishrein, in Bruges)
- steve coogan (philomena, legends)
- Charlie Heaton (stranger things, industry)
- Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina, Echo Valley)
- Himesh Patel (Tomorrow, the odyssey)
- niam elgar (The Iris Affair, Mary and George)
- simon kirby (Kneecap, its dark stuff)
Who else is behind the project?
Writer, Director and Producer Rich Peppiattwho recently won a BAFTA for his critically acclaimed Irish comedy Kneecap, holds the position.
The film boasts an incredibly strong lineup of producers. margot robbie’s luckychap (Barbie, Saltburn) and coup d’état producing in collaboration with executive producer cat collins. The project is also being produced with the support of Northern Ireland Screen.
Behind the camera, Peppiatt has assembled an absolute powerhouse of an award-winning crew to bring 19th-century New York and Ireland to life:
- Cinematographer: Ryan Kernaghan (Recent BAFTA winner for Kneecap, and Trespassers)
- production designer: james price (Academy Award and BAFTA winner for Poor Things)
- costume designer: kate holly (Academy Award and BAFTA winner for Netflix’s Frankenstein)
What is the production status of Bad Bridgets?
Cameras are getting ready to roll! In our initial report, we mentioned a summer shoot, and Netflix has now confirmed it bad bridget Production will officially begin on location in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland mid july 2026.
Given the production schedule for summer 2026, we expect Bad Bridgets to arrive on Netflix in mid-to-late 2027.
