Netflix’s high-stakes political thriller Diplomat Production is underway, scheduled to begin in late 2025, and cameras are currently rolling in London, United Kingdom. Here’s an exclusive first look at Keri Russell’s return to her role as the indomitable Kate Wyler on Netflix.
Production on Season 4 is in full swing right now, and these new behind-the-scenes photos take us right into the heart of London. In the latest scenes captured, Keri Russell was seen filming in the iconic St. James’s Park.
Russell’s character, Kate Wyler, dressed in her signature sharp tailoring, was seen with a security team of agents while engaging in an incredibly tense phone call. Given where we left off in Season 3, it’s no surprise that Kate is still operating under high pressure as the tectonic plates of international diplomacy — and her own marriage — keep shifting.
that we know about Diplomat season 4 so far
Diplomat continues to be one of Netflix’s most consistent performers, and the streamer showed immense confidence in the series by renewing it for a fourth season in May 2025, well ahead of the season 3 launch.

The production shortfall as per our latest data is as follows:
- production timeline:Filming officially began in early November 2025 and is scheduled to run through early June 2026 (we’re told June 5).
- places:The production splits its time between New York City and London, and has been so since the early seasons.
Netflix currently plans to release Season 4 in 2026, as confirmed during the Next on Netflix celebration earlier this year. However looking at the completion date, we are looking at Q4, so likely anywhere between September and December.
“It’s going to be so much fun,” showrunner Deborah Kahn said of the series’ upcoming return in a press release, “We get to the end of a season and I always think, ‘Okay, there’s no way we can do this again.’ And then we dig back into it, and it’s like, ‘Oh my God, we have to keep going.’ “
Expect all the heavy hitters to return in the new season. Along with Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell (Hal Wyler), the series regular cast included:
- Allison Janney as Grace Penn
- David Gyasi as Austin Dennison
- Ali Ahn as Edra Graham
- Ato Essandoh as Stuart Hayford
- Rory Kinnear as Nicole Trowbridge
We’ll also see the return of recurring favorites like Michael McKean as President Rayburn and Celia Imrie as Margaret Roylin. Bradley Whitford and Allison Janney also return after their recent debuts.
