Save the cheerleader, save the world. After a decade-long absence from the streaming service, the groundbreaking NBC sci-fi drama Heroes is officially returning to Netflix in the United States and several other major territories on July 1.

While it was unimaginable that such a high-profile show would return to Netflix during the height of the streaming wars in the late 2010s and early 2020s, we’ve seen in recent years that companies like NBCUniversal, Disney, and Warner Bros. Discovery are opening up their coffers and licensing their classic titles back to Netflix, with the caveat that the licenses aren’t as long-term as they used to be. We’ve seen incredible resurgences for shows like Suits, The Office, and Superstore — and now, another big network hit is about to get a “Netflix bump.”

Created by Tim Kring, Heroes originally premiered on NBC in 2006 and soon became a global pop-culture phenomenon. The ensemble cast included breakout performances from Hayden Panettiere, Milo Ventimiglia, Zachary Quinto, Ali Larter, and Masi Oka. The series is a fascinating snapshot of time in many ways, but for many people, including myself, who actually stayed up late to watch it on the BBC, it was our first real experience of what would become high-budget drama on TV. There is no case study mentioned How strikes affect a show!

All four seasons (which consist of 77 episodes) will be available in their entirety on Netflix 1 July.
