Originally airing as a prime-time “Friday drama” on Japan’s TBS network, this 10-episode series promises to be a tense, slow-burn mystery with some serious star power. Thanks to the official TBS website, we finally have full details on the cast and story.

who is being impersonated Tagusari Brothers?
Let’s start with the best news: The cast is all set. The series is led by two veterans of Japanese television and cinema.
masaki okada (drive my car, Gintama) plays the role of older brother Makoto Tagusari, a tireless detective working on the front lines. Playing the role of younger brother opposite him – a brilliant forensic medical examiner named Minoru Shota Sometani (Alice in Borderlands, parasite).
He is also joined by a huge supporting cast haruka igawa, Ayami Nakajo, Goro Kishtani, Kaito MiyachikaAnd Hitomi Kuroki. The series will also include a brand new, original theme song by singer-songwriter Naotaro Moriyama titled “Ai Ai” (愛々).
What is the story of the series?
Years ago, the Tagusari brothers’ parents were brutally murdered. Fast forward to April 27, 2010 – the day Japan officially expired the statute of limitations for murder. This was supposed to be a day of hope for Makoto and Minoru. But in a cruel, heartbreaking twist of fate, his parents’ case had expired two days East.
Because technically the killer is no longer a fugitive in the eyes of the law, the brothers decide to take matters into their own hands. Both of them join the police force to work from the inside. Together, Makoto and Minoru must navigate the daily grind of solving brutal, fast-paced crimes in the present day, while secretly hunting down the elusive mastermind who destroyed their family decades ago.
It is a completely original script written by Kei Watanabe and directed by Takeyoshi Yamamoto.
When do new episodes come out on Netflix?
Unlike the standard all-at-once Netflix binge, Tagusari Brothers Getting weekly rollouts.
The show will premiere locally in Japan on TBS on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 10:00 pm ET. Luckily, international fans won’t have to wait long to meet. New episodes will be available on Netflix in the US and abroad just two days later Sunday, April 19, 2026.
New episodes will drop every Sunday during its 10-episode run.
