It’s summer season now and just a few months ago we covered some of the most talked about upcoming movies and series on Netflix. In this semi-regular list assessing Netflix’s most anticipated upcoming titles, this list will use IMDb’s Moviemeter on IMDb Pro to look at what is generating the most traffic and interest among Netflix’s upcoming debut series (excluding returning shows).
Note: IMDb’s Moviemeter is updated every Tuesday, and given that traffic can wax and wane depending on a number of factors, it’s merely a reflection of the title’s popularity for that week, but it’s still a useful indicator of what people want to watch over the long term.

What is it and who is in it: An epic new historical family drama adapting Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic frontier novels. Developed by Rebecca Sonenshine (boys, Archive 81) and produced by CBS Studios and Anonymous Content, the sweeping series stars Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls and Luke Bracey as Charles Ingalls.
The latest and why it’s highly anticipated: Set to premiere soon on July 9, 2026, Netflix recently released a breathtaking official trailer, which brought huge traffic to the title. Netflix clearly has confidence in this adaptation, renewing it for a second season even before its debut, which is set to be filmed soon. Whether it’s a big hit, I’m personally not 100% sure. Period dramas usually go one of two ways.

What is it and who is in it: A revival and sequel to the classic ’90s NBC sitcom set at the fictional HBCU, Hillman College. The new comedy series focuses on original characters Dwayne and Whitley’s daughter Deborah Wayne (Tony Award winner Maleah Joi Moon). Longtime fans will be thrilled to see old cast members like Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, and Jada Pinkett Smith return.
The latest and why it’s highly anticipated: Anticipating a big comedy event, Netflix released a teaser trailer in late May, confirming a release date of September 24, 2026 – exactly 39 years after the original show premiered.

What is it and who is in it: A new sports comedy series stars Will Ferrell as Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, a washed-up, legendary golfer who attempts to make one last comeback on the PGA Tour to complete his Grand Slam. The show also stars Molly Shannon, Jimmy Tatro and Luke Wilson.
The latest and why it’s highly anticipated: Arriving on July 16, 2026, marketing is in full swing following the release of the official trailer in May. Marking Will Ferrell’s first major television comedy series, anticipation is high, but can it deliver? Netflix’s internally produced comedies have a mixed batting average.
4. Scooby-doo: original

What is it and who is in it: Produced by Berlanti Productions, it is the first live-action television series. Scooby Doo suffrage[10]. The show is a prequel to the discovery of the terrifying first case that brings together Mystery Inc. It stars Tanner Hagen as Shaggy, Mckenna Grace as Daphne, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma, and Maxwell Jenkins as Fred.
The latest and why it’s highly anticipated: Set for release in 2027, the title surged up the charts over the past few days following the viral revelation that, for the first time in live-action franchise history, Scooby-Doo will be played by a real pup rather than a CGI one. That and this being an IP that has been beloved by generations, anticipation is sky-high, but the execution will need to be perfect.
5. Ghostbusters: Night Shift


What is it and who is in it: The beloved ghoul-catching franchise returns to animation in this joint production from Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation. Executive produced by Jason Reitman and Gil Cannon (who co-wrote Ghostbusters: Afterlife And frozen kingdom), the series continues the supernatural comedy legacy.
The latest and why it’s highly anticipated: Interest increased dramatically last week after the series’ official title and logo were announced during the annual Ghostbusters Day celebration in New York City. The series is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix in 2027 and is completely unrelated to the upcoming Ghostbusters animated film, which is also in the works at Netflix.

What is it and who is in it: A sci-fi crime thriller co-production between Netflix and Toho Studios, rebooting the classic 1960 tokusatsu film. Directed by Shinzo Katayama train to busan Producer Yeon Sang-ho serves as showrunner, starring Shun Oguri and Yu Aoi. The story follows a terrifying criminal who can turn his body into gas to carry out a series of bizarre murders.
The latest and why it’s highly anticipated: Set for global release on July 2, 2026, the intense, visually stunning trailer has just been released, showcasing impressive VFX from the Academy Award winner. godzilla minus one Team (Shirogumi).

What is it and who is in it: A psychological surfing thriller produced by Clerkenwell Films (baby reindeer). Antony Starr (boys) as Brando, the charismatic and mysterious leader of an ideal surf community in Western Australia who attracts two young American backpackers.
The latest and why it’s highly anticipated: Having recently completed production in Western Australia (where it made history as the state’s largest production ever), audiences are incredibly eager to see Antony Starr’s highly anticipated follow-up television role in Homelander.
9. Lord of the Jungle

What is it and who is in it: Based on the best-selling 2024 novel by Liz Moore, this multi-generational mystery drama stars stranger things‘Maya Hawke stars as a young investigator investigating the disappearance of a 13-year-old girl from a summer camp in the Adirondacks.[26]. She is also joined by Oscar nominee Kerry Condon.
The latest and why it’s highly anticipated: With its high-profile cast announcements earlier this year, this prestige mystery adaptation—co-exhibited by Liz Moore and Liz Hannah (girl from plainville)—is gaining massive popularity among thriller and true-crime fans.
10. Musafir Cafe
What is it and who is in it: An intimate Hindi romantic drama series based on the novel by Divya Prakash Dubey. It stars Vikrant Massey as a software engineer with literary dreams and Vedika Pinto plays a free-spirited divorce lawyer who explores her unconventional living arrangements and modern relationships. Mahima Makwana co-stars.
The latest and why it’s highly anticipated: Netflix India’s recent promotional event and first-look trailer have brought the series into the limelight. Positioned as a soulful, “indie-vibe” romance, it serves as a much-awaited palate cleanser amid Netflix’s heavy slate of crime thrillers.
