The streets of Los Angeles are about to get even hotter. We like Courtney A. There’s some great news for fans of Kemp and Tani Marole’s cat-and-mouse crime thriller: Netflix has officially renewed Nemesis for a second season!
Power mastermind Courtney A. Created by Kemp and co-creator Tani Marole, Nemesis debuts on Netflix on May 14, 2026. The explosive 8-episode first season gave us a Heat-style rivalry between LAPD Detective Isaiah Stiles (Matthew Law) and master thief Coltrane Wilder (Ylan Noel), exploring the deep intersections of family, marriage, and morality.
It didn’t take long for Netflix to pull the trigger on a second season, and the producers couldn’t be happier, even though one of them has signed on to a new The overall deal for moving from Netflix to Apple TV+.

Showrunner, creator, and executive producer Courtney A. Kemp said:
“I feel blessed to have a season two. We thank the fans…It’s because of them – there’s no other reason. It’s their performance, they’re talking about it and their tremendous social media response…We’re grateful to Netflix for recognizing the power of our audience and bringing us back to the fans.”
Co-creator and executive producer Tani Marole promised that progress would be made going forward, saying:
“Season two, we’re so grateful for it… We’re going to make sure those questions are answered – and there are even more questions available for you to answer… Make no mistake, season two is going to be bigger and better.”
Netflix’s Vice President of Studio Scripted Series (UCAN), Nene Ebong, praised the duo’s work:
“Courtney and Tani have created something truly special with Nemesis – a show that captivated audiences and never let go. Seeing the global response has been extraordinary; this series resonated with fans in a way that was electrifying and far-reaching. Their vision, craft, and passion are unmatched, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to continue this journey with them in Season 2.”
How well did Nemesis do on Netflix?
As we mentioned in our top 10 breakdown, Nemesis had a very solid launch. In its first few days on the platform, the series garnered 7.1 million views globally, immediately breaking into the top 10 in 83 countries and surpassing the returning heavy-hitter Berlin Season 2. It’s clear that the “huge social media response” Kemp, coupled with the strong critical reception (currently sitting at 90% on Rotten Tomatoes), gave Netflix the ammunition needed to greenlight another batch of episodes.
Another big win for this renovation? Production to continue in LA. The creators previously told us how important it was to employ local crews, especially in the wake of the devastating LA fires. Season 2 means hundreds of local crew members will get the chance to return to work to bring this grounded, gritty version of Los Angeles back to our screens.
What to expect from Nemesis Season 2?
WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Season 1!
When we last unleashed our opposing forces, the collateral damage was too great. The first season ended in a place where continuity was absolutely necessary – a deliberate choice by Kemp, who had previously noted that he had actively fought against neatly tying up the series.
In the finale’s bloody shootout in Century City, Styles makes the painful choice to save his son, Noah (Cedric Joe), from an Alvarez Cartel bullet. That decision allowed Wilder to deliver the final blow: “You were never going to win.”
Heading into Season 2, Styles will have to face the music. He crossed a major moral line by calling in a favor from the cartel, his badge and gun are gone, and his wife Candace (Gabrielle Dennis) has left him for ADA Malik Jacobs (Jeff Pierre).
Meanwhile, Wilder may have survived, but his life is not entirely safe. In the season finale, his sister-in-law Charlie (Sophina Brown) plans to sabotage the hospital for his pregnant wife, Ebony (Cleopatra Coleman), while he worked as a fraudster. Now separated, Wilder’s primary mission in Season 2 will undoubtedly be to locate his family while avoiding the remnants of the cartel and the LAPD.
We can expect the main cast – including Matthew Law, Ylan Noel, Cleopatra Coleman, Gabrielle Denis, Cedric Jo, Sophina Brown, Michael Potts (Seeley), and Jeff Pierre – to reprise their roles as the hunt continues.
