Another ice skating YA drama is coming to Netflix, with an adaptation of Hannah Grace’s novel Icebreaker. The series, led by showrunner Amanda Lasher, will reportedly begin filming this fall, and wrap up in early 2027. Details are limited, but here’s everything we need to know about Icebreaker on Netflix.
icebreaker is an upcoming Netflix Original YA romantic-drama series led by series showrunner Amanda Lasher (gossip Girl). The series is an adaptation of Hannah Grace’s novel of the same name, co-written by Lasher and Jed Bartlett. (Road House).

Lesher shared a statement with Netflix expressing his excitement about the series:
“I’ve been a fan of steamy YA since seventh grade, reading Judy Blume hidden in the back of a textbook. I love the genre, and it’s a pleasure to work with Z, the team at Unveil, and Netflix to bring Hannah Grace’s beloved icebreaker novel to the screen.”
Series co-writer, Jed Bartlett, also shared a statement:

“Anastasia Allen has worked her whole life for a shot at Team USA. Everything seems to be going according to plan when she gets a full scholarship to the University of California, Maple Hills and a spot on their competitive figure skating team. Nothing will get in her way, not even hockey team captain Nate Hawkins. As team captain, Nate is focused on keeping his team on the ice. It’s difficult when a mess at the facilities means he has to is forced to share a rink with the figure skating team—including Anastasia, who apparently can’t stand her. But when Anastasia’s skating partner faces an uncertain future, she may have to look to Nate to get her shot… because she can never like a hockey player, right?

In issue 1510 of Production Weekly, it was reported that filming for Icebreaker is scheduled to begin in late September 2026 and end in mid-February 2027.
