In a shocking – but incredibly welcome move, Netflix has officially announced that Season 2 of Ransom Canyon will premiere on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
This release date is a big surprise for fans who have been following the production of the show. The beloved drama, starring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, was notably absent from Netflix’s initial 2026 lineup. In fact, after filming on the second season ended, we speculated that the series might not return until 2027, as it was completely absent from Next on Netflix’s 2026 roster.
However, after a recent tease from some people involved with the show hinting at an earlier launch, Netflix officially put out a press release today, confirming that we only have a few months left to wait before we head back to the Texas Hill Country.
What to Expect in Ransom Canyon Season 2
As we saw earlier when we decoded the season 2 episode titles, the new season will include eight brand new episodes (notably fewer than season 1’s 10).

According to Netflix’s official synopsis, season 2 will feature a significant time jump, taking place six months after the dramatic events of the first season finale.
Here’s what Netflix had to say about the upcoming storyline:
“A heartfelt drama set across the sweeping landscapes of the Texas Hill Country, Ransom Canyon follows the intertwined lives of families with deep roots in a town where your neighbors know everyone’s business. Season 2 picks up six months after the events of the first season, with rancher Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel) fighting to reclaim his inheritance after being ousted as trustee of his family’s double-owned ranch, while Musician Quinn O’Grady (Minka) Kelly must decide whether her heart really lies in the small town she once tried to move to or in the fast-paced world of New York City, whether they are star-crossed lovers, or in Ransom Canyon, true love stories are messy, complicated, and always worth the wait.
