Ricky Gervais is back on Netflix, and this time, he’s bringing some cat friends. are following us Preliminary report on the existence of the project Set for September 2025, Netflix has consistently dropped new first looks and intel, but now we’re getting our best look yet. They’ve just released the first trailer, as well as a new batch of first-look images.
Brand new adult animated comedy series set to release globally on Netflix Friday, August 7, 2026.
From Emmy and BAFTA award-winning producer Ricky Gervais (after life, Excessive, Office), the series follows the trials and tribulations of a group of feral British cats from all walks of society. As they search for mates, they contemplate the struggles and absurdities of everyday life. Gervais fans can expect his signature mix of heartfelt moments and biting social commentary.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited about a trailer. I can’t wait for everyone to learn more about these cats,” Gervais said in a statement accompanying the release.

First look at Alley Cats
Along with the trailer, Netflix has unveiled a slate of first-look images that show off the series’ sleek and bold 2D animation style. The animation is being handled by the award-winning UK-based studio Blink IndustriesThe genius minds behind Netflix’s Dead End: Paranormal Park and the viral sensation Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared.
The new images give us a great look at the diverse, scruffy, and hilarious cast of street cats – including a very funny shot of the tough-looking gang getting completely intimidated by a random cucumber on the sidewalk, a fat orange tabby casually walking away from a car accident, and the crew lounging on a heavily scratched couch.
For the fans lucky enough to attend Annecy International Animation Film Festival Later this week, Ricky Gervais will appear on Thursday, June 25. He will participate in a discussion about the upcoming series, and Netflix will give attendees a world-exclusive sneak peek of the first two episodes ahead of its August premiere.
