Spanish Romance Drama Series ‘The Map of Longing’ Sets July 2026 Netflix Release

Netflix’s Spanish slate is expanding once again this summer. Today, Netflix revealed this map of longing (known locally in Spain as The Map of Los Angels), brand new Limited series adaptation of Alice Cullen’s hit novel. This romantic drama will be released globally on July 17, 2026.

In case you haven’t been keeping track, Spain has been one of Netflix’s strongest European markets for consistently producing global hits, and this upcoming tearjerker looks like it will fit in perfectly with the streamer’s YA and romance offerings. Netflix Spain has released its first look at the new series, including an official poster, first-look images, and a teaser trailer, officially confirming a July release date.

Based on the highly popular novel by Spanish author Alice Kelen (published by Editorial Planeta), the miniseries promises a heavy, emotional narrative focused on grief, purpose, and romance.

Here’s the official logline for the new series:

“The series tells the touching story of Greta, who claims she was born with the sole purpose of saving her sister Lucy, who is suffering from leukemia, through her stem cells. However, events take an unexpected turn and Lucy passes away, leaving Greta with a deep existential void. Before leaving, Lucy creates ‘The Map of Longings’, a game that challenges Greta to face her pain and find her way out. On the journey, Greta meets Will, a mysterious young man with a dark past. Can we love someone without loving ourselves first?

Who is in the cast of the Netflix miniseries?

If you frequent Spanish Netflix originals, you’ll recognize some familiar faces in this lineup.

• Alicia Falco (eighteen, billionaire’s bunker) leads the cast as Greta.
• pablo alvarez (memento mori, La Favorite 1922) stars opposite her as the mysterious Will.

The miniseries is produced by Brutal Media (now part of BBC Studios Global Productions). Brutal Media has been a very reliable partner of Netflix over the years. If you recognize the name, they’re the production company behind several major Netflix titles, including the thriller series Bank Under Siege (Asalto al Banco Central), the YA sci-fi series Welcome to Eden (Bienvenidos a Eden), the true-crime documentary The Rosa Perales Tapes, and the rom-com Rosa Perales. i love you, idiot (Te quiero, the imbecile).
