A look at Netflix’s upcoming movie slate that has just completed or is about to begin shooting.

Spring has officially sprung, and Netflix’s movie slate is warming up along with the weather. From highly anticipated action blockbusters like Extraction 3 to fresh reboots and star-studded dramas, the streamer is currently rolling cameras on a massive wave of new original movies around the world. We’re keeping an eye on everything happening behind the scenes to keep you updated on when your next favorite movie finally gets into “action.”
This is the second part of our Netflix filming guide. In case you missed it, we published our Who’s Who filming guide for the TV series a few weeks ago. As we covered in that post, everything below is a rough guide based on production grids and available information, and is highly subject to change.
Netflix movies in production or soon to go into production
- 13 going on 30 – Netflix’s big reboot and “reimagining” of the classic film with Jennifer Garner is set to begin production on June 23 and run through mid-August, with Los Angeles as its filming home. Emily Bader and Logan Lerman will headline the show with Brett Haley directing.
- 2034 – Rian Johnson is producing this new AI thriller starring Rachel McAdams. It has its sights set on shooting in several countries in Eastern Europe, including stops in Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro.
- an innocent girl – In production since late March, this new thriller starring Kerry Washington and James Marsden will be filmed in New Jersey until early June 2026.
- extraction 3 – After being announced several years ago, production on the third installment of the Chris Hemsworth series will finally begin, beginning in June and running through October, using Sydney, Australia as the backdrop.
- gundam – With its full cast recently confirmed, production is now underway for Netflix’s anime adaptation, with filming taking place between Sydney, Australia and the UK under the working title Teardrop.
- Hannibal – Starring Denzel Washington and directed by Antoine Fuqua, the highly anticipated film will be filmed in Rome, Italy from late June to early October.
- one attempt left – Starring Jennifer Garner, John Cena and Kate McKinnon, it is now filming since mid-February and will be completed by the end of April 2026. Filming in Los Angeles and the Dominican Republic.
- time out – In production since late March, this new ensemble cast is splitting its time between Vancouver and San Francisco, starring the likes of Adam Sandler and Willem Dafoe. Completion was planned for May 30.
- 99ers – Production on this new film starring Zoey Deutch and Emily Bader began in early April and will end in late May 2026. Its filming is taking place in New Jersey.
- significant improvement -Mark Wahlberg and Riz Ahmed have been filming this new Chernin movie for Netflix since late April, with plans to wrap up in late July. Filming in Australia and Malaysia.
- Dodo’s chatter – Announced a little earlier this year, this mystery thriller directed by Jason Bateman is scheduled to shoot in New Jersey beginning June 1 and run through mid-July. Starring Woody Harrelson and Sam Rockwell.
- game of luck – Harry Bradbeer’s next film for Netflix will be split between the UK and France, debuting in June 2026. “Choosing to die to save millions, Andrew lives his dream life with the woman he loves – until she makes him question his destiny.”
- Snowman – Filming in Budapest, Hungary, Chris Pine will star in this survival thriller from Michael Chaves. Slated for completion in early May 2026.
- Untitled Luther sequel – Idris Elba is back on the case with a Netflix film and the sequel to the BBC series in London since February, with filming planned for completion in May 2026.
There’s also another film we can’t talk about yet, which is scheduled to begin production in Belfast in June 2026. More on that when we’re allowed to post.
We should also mention that movie starring Millie Bobby Brown Excellent Shooting for the film was supposed to begin in June and run through July, but as you may have heard, that project has been canceled.

netflix movies recently ended
- a christmas kind of love -Joanna Garcia Swisher leads this new holiday film, which was shot in Louisiana from early March to mid-April.
- never wonder (The Hanged Suite) with Nia Long, which ended in New Jersey in February.
- eloise – Shooting in London and New York from November to April last year, this new adaptation of the children’s book stars Mae Schenk and Ryan Reynolds.
- guarding the stars – Leighton Meester and Jared Padalecki lead this holiday romance comedy.
- there are floods here – Release confirmed for 2026, with production on this new film completed at the end of January.
- on a holiday – This holiday movie starring Maddie Ziegler and Rob Lowe wrapped filming in March after three months of shooting in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada.
- protecting jared This action comedy, shot in Hawaii, is directed by Jason Momoa and Andy Samberg. Filming was completed in late April.
- boy in iron box – Produced by Guillermo del Toro, filming of this new horror wrapped up in Canada in mid-January.
- fifth wheel – This new comedy directed by Eva Longoria stars Kim Kardashian, Nikki Glaser and Brenda Song. It divided its time between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, with filming taking three months between January and March 2026.
- tigo – A South Korean spin-off of Extraction which was shot between October and mid-February.
- walk on blue plains -Emily Blunt, Andrew Scott and Tom Cullen lead the cast for this adaptation, which Crowley directed. Filming took place in Ireland and concluded in mid-April.
