xo, kittydearest for all the boys The spin-off returned for its third appearance on March 29, and the first week figures are officially in.
Whenever a show gets its third season on Netflix, we usually start talking about the “decay curve.” Will the audience remember where the story ended? Will they bother tuning in? This is not a matter of concern for officers or employees xo, kitty. Its loyal fan following has grown with every season and the same is the case with Season 3.
This should be surprising, considering the show’s faithful keep track of the show’s every move, and thanks to its writing (even if it’s sometimes controversial) it does enough to keep people coming back. sprinkle in some solid cameos To all the boys, And you’ve got a winner.
Looking at FlixPatrol’s daily metrics, as well as data recently released by Netflix, Season 3 has retained 90% of Season 2’s viewers, and while its viewership isn’t growing, it has an incredible hold on those watching, which is incredibly important when it comes to renewals.
Although Netflix hasn’t officially greenlit Season 4 yet, the cast and crew are already expressing their anticipation during their recent press tour.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with unconsciousnessShowrunner Valentina Garza hinted that the season 3 finale leaves the door open for the future. He added that while Kitty and Min Ho have reached the end of a chapter, they are also “at the beginning of a journey with everything they’ve learned,” teasing that there is still “so much more to come”. [relationship] Potentially to cover milestones for them”.
When analyzing Netflix renewal, there are a bunch of factors but some of the main ones are XO, Kitty Are:
- cost vs viewership:YA shows naturally cost less to produce than CGI-heavy sci-fi epics like 3 Body Problem or Stranger Things. Achieving 12.9 million views out of the gate is an excellent return for this budget level.
- completion rate: The 9% drop in viewership season-over-season tells us that the attrition rate is incredibly high. The people who start this show finish it, though we don’t get to see those numbers beyond third-party metrics.
- global appeal: FlixPatrol data confirms that it performs phenomenally well in non-English speaking regions, giving it massive global applicability.
Here’s a deeper dive into the Season 3 premiere numbers and why a Season 4 renewal is practically inevitable.
Global top 10 numbers: XO, Kitty have excellent audience retention
Let’s get straight to the meat of it. In its premiere week (March 29 to April 5, 2026),
To understand how strong this is, we need to look at season-by-season comparisons:
- Season 1 (May 2023): 14.2 million views (week 1)
- Season 2 (January 2025): 14.2 million views (week 1)
- Season 3 (March/April 2026): 12.9 million views (week 1)
While raw “hours viewed” marked a decline from Season 1’s 72 million, we have to account for runtime. Season 1 was 5 hours long, while Season 3 clocked in at 4 hours and 20 minutes. This is why Netflix moved to the “views” metric – it levels the playing field.
The Season 3 premiere’s drop from 14.2 million views to 12.9 million views represents a remarkably small decline of just ~9%. Most YA (Young Adult) shows on Netflix lose 20% to 30% of their viewers by their third season, with some shows recently reaching 30-60%!
xo, kitty, Retaining over 90% of its core audience proves that there is still a lot left to squeeze out.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be keeping an eye on its cumulative charts to see if people persist after the initial launch:
Flixpatrol Heatmaps: Dominating the Globe
XO, Another positive for Kitty: It’s popular everywhere. looking at the Flixpatrol data from last weekThe geographical footprint of this show is staggering.
- Latin America:The show reached #1 almost immediately in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico. As of today (April 7), it still holds the #1 or #2 spot in the entire region.
- Europe: complete dominance. It topped the daily charts in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland and the Nordics.
- Asia and Middle East: Strong #1 in India, Egypt, Israel and the Philippines.
While it’s starting to decline a bit in the US and UK (dropping to #4 and #3 respectively today), the fact that a relatively low-budget YA rom-com can instantly take the #1 spot in most countries globally is exactly the kind of ROI (return on investment) that a renewal provides.
