It’s been over three years now since Season 3 returned in May 2023; Fans are eagerly waiting for some news. So, will there be a season 4? Will we finally get more Tim in ridiculous, complicated shirts?
Short answer: Yes, hopefully, but we’ll probably have to be a little patient.
The show has never been a huge viewership hit for Netflix as it has never spent a single week in the global top 10, but it has certainly accomplished some other important goals for the streamer. Looking at engagement report coverage for the show, it was watched 47.9 million hours between 2023 and 2025, with 28.7 million views. What goals does this serve for Netflix? For one, it has been a highlight of the awards and has actually been a critical darling since its inception, garnering a lot of nominations and winning many of them. Secondly, while viewership on Netflix isn’t quite as S-tier as some of the biggest hits, the series garners a lot of attention on other platforms due to the nature of the way the show is shot. On TikTok and YouTube alone, we counted millions of views.

A SAG-AFTRA entry for “Year 4” (Season 4) for the show has existed for years now, so it seems like the door is open, but that’s only if the stars align.
recently Interview with May 2026 DiversityNetflix stand-up head Robbie Prow and scripted comedy boss Tracy Pakosta sat down to talk curating the Netflix Is a Joke Festival and what’s next on Netflix’s comedy slate. When asked directly if he had talked to Tim Robinson about doing more of the sketch show, Prow gave a highly optimistic update:
shrimp: “I don’t want to speak for Tim, but he has such a deep passion for that show, and we’re obsessed with it. We don’t put pressure on Tim, but we just know he loves doing it, and I think at some point he’d like to do it again.”
But wait, it gets better. Producer Akiva Schaefer gave an even more concrete update during an interview collider At the end of 2025. Schaefer directly confirmed that a deal had been made and writing had begun:
“They have a deal, and they’re writing sketches, but they also have an HBO show, and they have to finish that season. So, I don’t have a date or anything like that, but just know that there are sketches that I haven’t read that they’ve written. They want to do it, and Netflix wants it, so it will happen. It’s just that they’re doing this season of this HBO show. They have to finish it, and then, I’m assuming, they But we will change gears again.
You read that right: “It will happen.”
Why such a long wait for Season 4?
If they want to do it, and Netflix wants it, why has it been missing in action for three whole years? Well, Tim Robinson has become a very busy man in Hollywood.
Following the massive Emmy-winning success of the first three seasons, Robinson and Kanin set their sights on some other major projects, including:
- The Chair Company (HBO): Robinson and Kanin co-created and executive produced this half-hour comedy thriller, which was picked up by HBO. Robinson played the role of William Ronald Trosper, who uncovers a larger conspiracy after an embarrassing incident at work.
- Friendship (A24): Robinson also worked with Paul Rudd for the A24 comedy film friendshipWhich was released in theaters to much praise.
- live Tour: Robinson hit the road for a highly successful live tour of the show across the United States.
Now that chair company Having finished its first season, Robinson and Kanin could have returned, but it looks like HBO has other plans after this. Show handed season 2 pickup.
As Akiva Schaefer said, however, the sketches are still on paper, which means pre-production, casting (for all those amazing guest stars), and filming still have to happen.
