Zach Galifianakis is best known for his iconic role hangover Movies. Others will recognize him from brilliantly awkward interviews between two fernsWhere he entertains celebrity guests in his own unique way. In it’s a gardening showHe proves why he’s so unique, this time in a setting you wouldn’t usually expect: gardening, with experts and children.

Strange, it works. In fact, it works remarkably well. What you get is seamless, easy entertainment that you can finish in a single evening. The episodes are short, the tone is light, and beneath the silly jokes, there’s enough material to give it some weight.

At a time when everything seems to be aiming to be bigger, heavier and more serious, where true crime, dystopian dramas and oversized blockbusters are dominating the landscape, this show does exactly the opposite. It’s short, simple and really entertaining. Sometimes, it doesn’t make any sense and that’s the appeal. This is comfort television in its purest form.

Don’t be confused by the title. Anyone expecting a serious, informative gardening documentary will be disappointed. Yes, you can take the occasional tip, but the show is really about Galifianakis himself, his timing, his dry humor and, above all, his interactions with the kids. That chemistry is constantly fun to watch.

What stands out is how Galifianakis sometimes asks surprisingly thoughtful, almost philosophical questions, only to immediately undercut them with a deliberately silly joke. In most settings, this will feel forced. Here, it fits perfectly. The adult segments lean toward weirdness, which only adds to the charm.

It is difficult to define his comedy style. No one else is doing exactly the same thing. This won’t work for everyone, as it sometimes devolves into very dry, almost childish silliness, but within this format, it all clicks.

with it’s a gardening showNetflix has delivered an unexpectedly enjoyable series. This is exactly the kind of feel-good television that has become increasingly rare in recent years. Galifianakis is a joy to watch, and the show offers something really valuable: a chance to switch off and relax.

The production is tight, the informative moments are handled in a playful and accessible way, and it’s also a great watch for kids. This isn’t the kind of television that stays with you because of its depth or immediacy, but because it looks good.

MVP of it’s a gardening show

Zach Galifianakis is, without a doubt, the beating heart of this series. It won’t work at all with any other, or at least not nearly as well. This show seems to be tailor-made for him. Its humor and charm thrive on awkward exchanges with adults, balanced by her playful, often surprisingly acerbic interactions with children. It’s a delicate mix that few can pull off, but Galifianakis makes it look effortless.

Decision

it’s a gardening show It is extremely enjoyable to watch. It won’t be accessible to everyone, but its brand of silly, light-hearted humor feels refreshingly different from everything we’ve seen in years. This is the kind of spontaneous, genuinely entertaining television that has become all too rare. If there’s a downside it’s how quickly it’s over. The episodes feel shorter, and the seasons feel even shorter. Netflix shouldn’t hesitate for a second in greenlighting a second season just because it will leave you wanting more. Too much.
