If you’re suffering from a C-drama drought this year, Netflix is about to deliver the perfect cure. We’ve learned that Netflix has picked up the streaming rights to the highly anticipated Chinese historical fantasy series Ashes to Crowns, and the even better news is that it will be releasing episodes daily starting Monday, June 1, 2026!
Licensed from Chinese streaming giant YOUKU, ashes to the crown (Original title: 翘楚 / Qiao Chu) is generating massive buzz overseas. Netflix will release dramas day by day with its Chinese rollout.
Here’s what you need to know about Ashes to Crown before it hits Netflix on Monday (we don’t have an exact time yet, but YouKu is streaming new episodes at 12PM (GMT+8), which is midnight EST.
What is the story of Ashes to Crown?
adapted from popular web novels Shi Jing’s Chu Hou, Ashes to Crown is an epic story of second chances. The series follows the story of Chu Zhao, the daughter of a loyal general, who marries for love, but is betrayed and used as a political pawn by Xiao Zun, the cruel heir to the state of Chu.
After losing both his clan and his life, Chu Zhao is miraculously reborn on the eve of his wedding. Armed with the memories of her tragic past, she vows to rewrite her destiny. Instead of running away from political turmoil, she steps straight into the center of it. Along the way, she meets Zi Yan Lai, the illegitimate and neglected son of the Zi family. Chu Zhao brings light to her dark world, and together, they are freed from the fate imposed upon them. With his help, Zi Yan Lai rises from a humble Imperial guard to a formidable general protecting the country.
Who is in the team from Ashes to Crown?
Fans of Chinese dramas will immediately recognize the star-studded lineup here:
- chain duel (My Journey to You, Fox Spirit Matchmaker) leads the cast as the fierce and reborn Chu Zhao.
- zhou yiran (when i fly towards you) opposite him Xie Yan plays the role of Lai, a cruel but loyal illegitimate son who rises to power.
- wang ruichang Xiao plays an ambitious and treacherous heiress named Shun, who seals Chu Zhao’s fate in her previous life.
- Tang Xiaotian Xie Yan plays Fang.
The supporting cast has been rounded out Wu Shile, Gao Maotong, zhang xian, zhou ruolang, Han JingAnd Wang Yibei.
How many episodes will there be?
One of the most exciting things about From Ashes to the Crown is its tight episode count. the series will run perfectly 24 episodesThe duration of each episode is approximately 45 minutes.
When do new episodes come out on Netflix?
As we mentioned above, Netflix has secured a daily release schedule for the series.
