Grab your giant mug of coffee from Luke’s Diner, but don’t panic just yet. Third-party tracking sites have started warning of this Gilmore Girls Netflix is set to depart on July 1, 2026 — but there’s growing evidence that a last-minute renewal is in the works.
For millions of subscribers, Netflix has been the definitive home of Stars Hollow for years. The platform introduced Lorelai and Rory Gilmore to a huge new generation, becoming the ultimate casual watch. But as the streaming wars continue to reclaim legacy titles, Gilmore Girls Is the franchise about to become the latest casualty?
Here are the details on why third-party sites are marking the beloved series for departure, what Netflix has to say about it, and what it means for the future of the franchise.
is original Gilmore Girls Is the series actually leaving Netflix?
If you check popular third-party Netflix tracking sites like Anogs And NewonNetflix.infoBoth are currently listing July 1, 2026 as the date for the original seven seasons to be removed. Gilmore Girls. This supports our reporting of its potential removal date of 2022 (!) and recently at the top of the year.

However, there is one big problem: There is currently no actual removal notice displayed Gilmore Girls netflix page in most of circumstances.
This situation is incredibly reminiscent of the incident that happened with arrested Development earlier this year. When a show’s licensing window is approaching its expiration date, but behind-the-scenes negotiations for renewal are actively taking place, Netflix often suppresses “leaving soon” warnings up front. Since those notices aren’t appearing for most users, this leads us to believe that Netflix and Warner Bros. Television (which solely owns and distributes the series) is likely working out a renewal deal right now if it hasn’t already been done as well.
To avoid throwing a negative impact in our face, we contacted Netflix directly to ask about the renewal/removal, but they declined to comment, although they said they would keep us informed.
The lack of solid denial or confirmation implies that the fate of Stars Hollow is currently sitting on the negotiation table.
As we’ve covered before, Warner Bros. Discovery is aggressively bringing back its most popular legacy shows — like Friend, the Vampire DiariesAnd gossip Girl– To strengthen Max. But Gilmore Girls Undoubtedly a great asset for Netflix.
According to the Netflix Engagement Report, covering viewership between 2023 and 2025, the entire OG series and spin-offs have amassed a staggering 3.7 billion hours, equivalent to almost a quarter million views. The reason Netflix has kept the show around for so long is because it gave the series a major revival in 2016, with the OG series being given a 10-year lease to Netflix, though not exclusively, given that it’s also streamed on Hulu for a while.
What about Netflix originals? a year of life?
You can believe this because Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life It is branded as a Netflix Original, making it safe from any licensing drama. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
Based on our current intelligence, The four-part revival series is set to drop from Netflix on November 25, 2026.
If that date sounds familiar, that’s because it’s exactly ten years to the day after the revival premiered on Netflix (November 25, 2016). As we mentioned in our huge 2026 departures guide, more than 100 “Netflix Originals” are set to leave the platform this year. Because a year of life was a co-production and the underlying IP is owned by Warner Bros., with Netflix only paying for the exclusive 10-year streaming window.
If Netflix manages to make a deal to keep the original series this July, it’s highly likely that they will also extend the lease on the revival before the November debut.
We will keep you informed.
