The end of the month has brought a flood of fresh content to the platform, including 74 new movies and 24 new TV series in the last seven days, most of which is thanks to us entering the month of May!

Whether you’re in the mood for an adrenaline-pumping new thriller, a refreshing animated feature for the whole family, or simply want to revisit some classic cinematic favorites, there’s truly something for everyone in this week’s massive collection. The best new movies and shows on Netflix this week

cloudy (2025)

Style: Animation, Adventure, Comedy | Director: nathan grano

Skydance Animation’s latest family-friendly feature has officially arrived on Netflix. The story takes us deep into “The Valley”, featuring Ollie, a small woodland puku, and Ivy, a strong-headed Javan bird. After a magical accident, two natural enemies must set aside their differences and move forward with kindness to save their home from an ultimate evil.

In our review of the animated feature, Andrew Morgan gave it 3 out of 5 stars, noting:

“overall, cloudy impresses with its world-building and pathos enough to satisfy its four-pronged family audience, surpassing even previous Skydance Animation films of recent note. mesmerized Or lucky. The vibrant colors, original creature designs, and bold, vibrant computer animation style will capture minds, while its march toward empathy and understanding will reach their hearts.

Style: action, drama, thriller

If you’re looking for an action-packed event this weekend, look no further man on Fire. This all-new, gritty series adaptation of AJ Quinnell’s classic thriller stars Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, completely elevating the source material. With intense action sequences and phenomenal lead performances, this is easily one of the most exciting original series coming to Netflix this month.

Reviews have been mostly good, including a positive review from Us, with most praising the direction, action and acting skills, though finding the plot lacking compared to last year’s film counterpart.

Bugonia (2025)

Style: Science Fiction, Comedy | Director: Yorgos Lanthimos

Following its highly anticipated theatrical release, Yorgos Lanthimos’ latest fantastical masterpiece is making its SVOD debut on Netflix. reunite with him bad things And types of kindness With Jesse Plemons as muse Emma Stone, Lanthimos presents a quirky, captivating and extremely hilarious sci-fi comedy that you absolutely cannot miss. This is a huge addition to the Netflix movie library this week and will no doubt be divisive. I personally loved 90% of the movie and couldn’t stand the ending. I know it’s based on previously released work and it ends exactly how it’s supposed to, but still… let me know in the comments what you think.

If you’re looking for a masterclass in tension, Fede Alvarez’s critically acclaimed 2016 thriller don’t breathe Has made its place on Netflix. The premise is extremely simple: a trio of young Detroit thieves break into the home of a wealthy blind veteran in hopes of an easy score. They soon discover that their target is a highly lethal rival, turning their heist into a terrifying battle for survival. Tightly paced and utterly relentless, this is a brilliantly crafted horror tale that will literally take your breath away.
