Netflix is teaming up with the BBC and Canada’s CBC for a brand new young adult comedy series camped out. cheering from schitt’s creek Created by creator Matt Kippen, the series is officially in production. Here’s a summary of everything we know so far camped out This follows its announcement by the Canadian broadcaster earlier this month.
Created and performed by Matt Kippen (kim’s convenience, schitt’s creek), camped out Promises to bring plenty of laughs to the YA realm. The series is being produced by Blue Ant Studios (crew girl, davy and jones locker) Matthew Hornberg, Mark JW Bishop, Donna Luke, Dianne Rankin and AJ Truth serve as executive producers.

Here’s the official synopsis for the new series:
“Three teenage slackers avoid repeating a year of high school by agreeing to work at their guidance counselors’ financially strapped summer camp, where they provide bad advice, terrible survival skills, and disgusting role models to the young campers. These “counselors” focus less on the kids and more on their efforts to not waste the summer, avoid work, and wreak havoc on the luxury yacht club across the lake.

What is the production status of camped out?
Official Production Status: Filming (Last Updated: July 2026)
Production is officially underway in Ontario, Canada! Netflix Canada confirmed filming will begin in mid-July 2026 via Instagram and we’re told it’s expected to continue until the end of Q3 2026.
Although exact filming locations within the province have not yet been revealed, camped out Netflix joins a huge roster of productions that have recently set up shop in Ontario, including the Sam Worthington thriller i will find youupcoming thriller waywardand massive YA hits ginny and georgia.
Where will it be camped out Stream?
Because it is an international co-production, distribution will be split.
camped out will stream globally Netflix. However, in Canada, the series will be available CBC Platform. Given the BBC’s involvement in the production, it is highly likely that the series will air on BBC/BBC iPlayer Instead of Netflix in the United Kingdom. Netflix gets late releases compared to its other platforms and generally licenses shows in other countries at a later date.

Netflix has not announced an official release date yet camped out.
Considering that cameras just started rolling in July 2026, the series will be in intensive production throughout the summer. Assuming a standard post-production timeline for a half-hour comedy series, we’re currently estimating mid to late 2027 Netflix release date globally.
