We have some bittersweet news for fans of quirky sci-fi comedies resident alien. Good news? The fourth season of the Alan Tudyk-led series is officially coming to Netflix in the United States this June after waiting for a long time and getting no news. Bad news? If you haven’t heard, this will be the show’s final appearance, as the series will not be returning for a fifth season.

Since its debut on Netflix, resident alien has been one of the biggest licensed success stories for the streamer. Created by Chris Sheridan and based on the Dark Horse comic book series of the same name, the show follows Harry, an alien sent to exterminate humanity who crash-lands on Earth and has to blend in as a small-town Colorado doctor.

If you’ve been keeping track of the show’s release schedule on Netflix US, you’ll know that it’s been a steady rollout. Netflix first licensed the show in early 2024, bringing a huge wave of new fans to the series. According to Netflix engagement reports, the series received 403.2M viewing hours on Netflix in 2024 and 2025, which is equivalent to 45.8M views.

Here’s a timeline of how Resident Alien has been introduced to Netflix US so far:

Now, we can confirm this Season 4 in full is coming to Netflix US on June 6, 2026. This is much faster than our initial estimate, with our initial prediction suggesting the show may not arrive until February 2027. Thankfully, we were far away!

However, sadly, this drop comes with a hefty caveat. As previously reported, the series has been officially canceled, meaning that Season 4 will serve as the show’s final chapter. Despite its strong streaming performance – with Netflix dominating the top 10 after new seasons often decline – the network, Syfy ultimately decided not to move forward with Season 5. When you finish your binge on June 6, that will truly be the end of Harry’s journey.

What about Resident Alien on Netflix internationally?

When Resident Alien first hit Netflix US, it was an exclusive regional license. Since then, distribution has expanded significantly, and the show is available in most regions around the world. However, if you’re living outside the United States, your binge-watching journey is lagging significantly behind.

Currently all international regions are limited to only Season 1 and 2 (Total 26 episodes).

Here’s a quick look at how the first two seasons opened globally:

  • March 2024: Early adopters in Europe, including Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and Switzerland, got the show first.
  • March 2025: Just one year later a massive expansion took place, bringing the show to the United Kingdom, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, France, Mexico, Portugal and Spain.
  • March-May 2026: Recently, the show expanded to Australia, Canada, South Africa, India, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and several other regions in Eastern Europe and Asia.

Since international territories are still waiting for Season 3, it’s likely to take a very long time for Season 4 to arrive across the pond or borders. International licensing often requires waiting for existing pay-TV and local broadcasting deals to expire. If you’re in the UK, Canada, or Australia, you’ll want to keep a close eye on our monthly “What’s Coming to Netflix” previews for updates on when Season 3 will finally arrive.

For now, US customers can mark their calendars for June 6. Prepare to say your goodbyes, because Harry’s final mission is almost here.
