Welcome to your weekly look at what’s coming to Netflix US over the next seven days! It’s a crossover week as we say goodbye to July and welcome August. As is tradition for the first day of the month, August 1st brings a massive wave of licensed films to the platform, including some huge cinematic franchises. Add some highly anticipated new originals and beloved cult-classic TV shows, and your watchlist is about to get pretty full.

A Quiet Place: Day One (2024)

Shhh. You’ll want to keep the volume low for this. One of the biggest horror blockbusters of 2024 is debuting on Netflix US this week. Serving as a prequel to the hit John Krasinski franchise, first day It takes us into the chaotic, terrifying first hours of the alien invasion in New York City. Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn (stranger things) Star as two strangers who are forced to navigate a crumbling metropolis in complete silence to escape highly sentient, deadly creatures. It’s a stressful affair, and it never quite reaches the heights of motherhood movies; This is a worthy companion.
Hannibal (seasons 1-3)

Fannibals, rejoice! Bryan Fuller’s visually stunning, deeply disturbing, and critically acclaimed psychological horror series makes a triumphant return to Netflix. Hugh Dancy stars as brilliant (but deeply troubled) FBI criminal profiler Will Graham, who teams up with handsome and brilliant psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter (a masterful Mads Mikkelsen). Unbeknownst to Will, his new mentor is a cunning, cannibalistic serial killer. The complicated cat-and-mouse dynamic between these two is some of the best television of the 2010s. Best Medicine (Season 1)

Are you looking for your next cozy medical drama? Based on the beloved long-running British series doctor martinThe new series follows Dr. Martin Best (Josh Charles), a brilliant Boston heart surgeon whose career is derailed when he suddenly develops a fear of blood. Transferred to a quaint, eccentric Maine fishing village as a general practitioner, his blunt, angry demeanor immediately clashes with the quirky locals. Co-starring Abigail Spencer and Annie Potts, this is a heartwarming and hilarious new addition to the library.

- Forbidden Woman (Season 1) Netflix Original -Colombian series adaptation focusing on the forbidden romance between a politician’s wife and a famous singer.
- Gear Heads (Season 1) – Reality Motor Series.
- Rage (Season 1) Netflix Original – Brazilian crime drama series about an injured amnesiac who finds refuge with an MMA coach.

- Person to Person (2017) – An independent character study weaving together bizarre intersecting stories in NYC, starring Michael Cera and Abbi Jacobson.
- Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins (2025) – An ambitious chapter in the iconic Philippine horror franchise spanning three different eras.
- The Bombing of Pan Am 103 (Limited Series) Netflix Original – a six-part factual drama describing the international investigation into the 1988 Lockerbie terrorist bombing.
