Tyler Perry is on us fast. In a rare move for Netflix, beauty in black has been renewed for a fourth season, officially reversing a previous announcement that season 3 would be the show’s final outing.
If you’ve been following our coverage beauty in blackYou may recall that we previously reported that Season 3 would be the last hurray for the hit drama series following Season 2’s release in early 2026. However, even before season 3 makes its debut on the platform, Netflix has confidently given the green light to a fourth season.
This news comes as Netflix’s recent engagement report data tells us that the series has now surpassed 1 billion viewing hours (1.048B to be exact) on Netflix across its two seasons, which equates to over 104M views. beauty in black Season 1 in particular was a global juggernaut, spending seven weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10 and reaching #1 in an impressive 28 countries. Season 2 proved that audiences were incredibly enthusiastic, spending an additional six weeks in the Global Top 10 and achieving the #1 position in 17 countries.
The news was announced today via Netflix and Tyler Perry’s social channels, featuring a surprise video celebrating the cast and crew’s renewal, which appears to be a creative decision in addition to the series’ continued strong viewership.
In an Instagram video, Tyler Perry and the cast shared the good news directly with fans:
“Hey, everyone, Tyler Perry here. The Bellaries haven’t stopped causing trouble. We’ve been keeping this secret for as long as we could. But it’s finally time to tell you all about it. Brand new episodes beauty in black are coming. Season four is officially in the works. Thank you for joining us at Netflix on this Bellary journey in what is going to be an exciting next season. women of beauty in black Things have definitely been shaken up. We’ll see you in season four. We’ve got four seasons for all of you. Come on, let’s do it.”
Speaking to Netflix, executive producer, creator, writer and director Tyler Perry detailed why the story couldn’t end with Season 3.
“beauty in black is back for season 4 and the story of the Bellary family is not over yet. I wanted to know so much more and I’m grateful I had the opportunity to tell this story. To our viewers who have been on this journey with us since day one, thank you for watching and sharing it with the world. More episodes to come!”
